Performance
Performance is a central part of a Codman Academy education and includes extensive on-site training at The Huntington Theatre Company for two years for all students. In 2009, Codman was the only public school to receive the state's highest award in Arts and Culture, The Commonwealth Award, for this pioneering partnership. Additionally, all students are required to speak publicly during the junior and senior years. The capstone project is the Socratic Apologea, a public defense of one's life.
Arts electives for students include Studio Art, theatre, and a capella. Classes are open on a space available basis to parents as well. To date, more than 30 parents have taken electives at Codman.
